'Sangokaku' is notable for its bark.  The Japanese name roughly translates to ""coral tower", and the common trade name is Coral Bark Maple.  The red winter bark; color intensifies in cold weather to almost salmon. The best color is obtained when the plant can enjoy full sun.  The green foliage of spring and summer will turn a golden yellow in the fall, giving you a wonderful variety of colors 365 days a year.
