Cauliflower prefers a well-drained, fertile soil high in organic matter, a pH of 6.0–7.5 with consistent moisture throughout the growing season. Irrigate regularly for best results. Cauliflower does not do well in hot weather; the best success is with spring and fall crops. EARLY SPRING CROP: Use early and midseason varieties.

When it begins showing the sign of a head, you need to tie the leaves to cover the head, otherwise the head will turn yellow and not be that beautiful, pure white color you are looking for.

Sunlight and Temperature Requirements

Cauliflower requires lots of sunlight to thrive. It needs at least 6 hours of direct light. But this crunchy cool-season vegetable does best when the environment remains cool – around 60°F. 

Snow Crown Cauliflower is an early snowball type, pure white, round and smooth, weighs up to 2 lbs. each. The upright leaf growth protects the center head from sunburn.
